Parking Permits

Ohio University Parking Services moved from a no cost faculty/staff parking environment to a fee based parking system effective July 2011.  Faculty/Staff parking fees are $150 per year and payroll deductible for full time, permanant staff members.  Contract employees may purchase parking based on the duration of their contract, or $12.50 per month needed.

For more information, please review the detailed faculty/staff Pay to Park Policy.

DARK GREEN FS PERMITS

Full time faculty/staff members are issued a dark green, plastic permit while attending orientation with Ohio University's Department of Human Resources. Dark green permits are valid in any dark green or purple lot on campus. Please review our campus parking map for these lot locations. A faculty/staff permit must be displayed to avoid a citation. Parking Services is unable to check vehicle registrations to determine ownership; thereafter, it is very important to ensure that your permit is properly displayed. Please make sure there is nothing covering the front of your permit (such as air fresheners, mirror decorations, etc.) and all numbers on the permit front are clearly visible from the outside of the vehicle. Citations received from not displaying a faculty/staff permit may be appealed by the faculty/staff member and could possibly be reduced to $15 for improper display, but they generally are not voided. Faculty/staff members will be required to register their vehicle(s) while attending orientation; therefore, please be sure you know your license plate number in order to do this. You may also pre-register your vehicle by using our online form.

Please note that all permits are issued to the individual and are intended for that particular faculty/staff member's use only. At no time should a student or non-faculty/staff member use a faculty/staff permit to obtain parking on campus. Any unauthorized individual found using a faculty/staff permit could receive a $105 fine and may be booted or towed.

Generally, faculty/staff permits are valid for a two-year period. Parking Services sends notices to faculty/staff members when they are due for renewal. All fee's must be paid prior to renewal or process change regarding parking.  Any vehicle displaying a permit that has expired will receive a $30 citation unless another violation type (such as illegal permit use) is noted.

Permits with 09 prior to the hyphen in the permit number will be renewed summer 2011.  For renewal information, please click here.

All permits should be returned to Parking Services upon employment termination. Human Resources notifies Parking Services when an employee has terminated their employment; therefore, any permits that are not returned to Parking Services are marked as lost. Any vehicle found displaying a lost permit is subject to a $105 violation and possible boot or towing fees.

Faculty/Staff who retire must return their current faculty/staff permit for a retired permit. Human Resources also notifies Parking Services of employment termination due to retirement; therefore, the permit is considered lost if not returned and is also invalid. Simply exchanging for a retired permit will avoid a possible citation.

WHITE PERMITS

Individuals designated by the President's office may receive a white all access permit.  These permits are valid within any University lot in a regular, non restricted space with the exception of the following areas:

  • Student Garages
  • Baker University Center Garage
  • Red and Blue Student Overnight Lots
  • Metered Spaces
  • Restricted spaces (such as state vehicle, handicap, etc.)

Vehicle must be parked within a valid, legal space.  Parking is prohibited in the grass, along curbs, or in other non-parking areas.

When a lot is closed for an event, parking is prohibited within that lot to all permit holders--including those with a white permit.

Groups I, II, III, and IV Contract Employees:

Faculty/Staff hired under a group I or II contract may be issued permits within the dark green and purple lots for the duration of the contract issued by Ohio University.

Faculty/Staff hired under a group III or IV contract may be issued permits within the purple lots only for the duration of the contract.  Staff who are also students are required to pay the student fee to obtain a permit.

Interim, Temporary, and Term employees fall under same guidelines as groups III and IV employees.

Any student enrolled in classes that is under a non benefits eligible contract must obtain a permit as a student as the student status supersedes the employment status under the contract.

Faculty/Staff Permit Replacement Policy

Faculty/Staff are highly encouraged to lock and secure their vehicles at all times. Unfortunately, permits are stolen due to the parking areas it allows those without these privileges. If a permit should be stolen, a police report must be filed reporting the permit as such. A copy of the report presented to Parking Services will result in the permit being replaced free of charge.

Any permit reported as lost or stolen will be replaced ONE time for a fee of $25. Thereafter, any replacement permits must be purchased at full cost.  Only faculty/staff who receive payroll deductions for their parking permits from the Ohio University Payroll Office are eligible for the one time $25 replacement fee. All other faculty/staff are required to purchase a replacement permit at the current selling rate. After a third lost permit, no replacement permit will be issued. Any vehicle found displaying a permit reported as lost or stolen will be issued a $105 fine and booted or towed regardless of vehicle registrant. Additionally, students found using such permits are referred to Judiciaries.
