Ohio University's Department of Parking Services attempts to meet the
parking needs for individuals with mobility and disability needs.
There are disability spaces located in various lots across campus.
Please refer to the campus parking map for locations. Disability permits are accepted on campus as noted below.
Disability placards are never valid in the following areas: non parking spaces, posted
restricted spaces such as visitor, state vehicle, etc.; and metered
spaces (all fees must be paid at a meter). Please do
not attempt to create your own parking spaces.
Students who have a disability placard must register their placard with Parking Services AND purchase a campus parking permit based on living arrangements. Both the disability placard AND the current University permit must be displayed to acquire parking on campus. Parking on campus with a non-registered disability permit and without the accompanying valid University permit will result in a fine.
- Students residing in a dorm may purchased permits within a garage or a surface lot based on their housing assignment and permit availability.
- Students who are commuting to campus and have a disability permit must purchase a commuter permit.
Faculty and staff who have a disability placard must register their placard with Parking Services AND obtain a campus parking permit based on eligibility. Both the disability placard AND the current University permit must be displayed to acquire parking on campus. Parking on campus with a non-registered disability permit and without the accompanying valid University permit will result in a fine.
Visitors who have a disability placard may park on campus with their state issued placard. Visitors may receive a notice on their vehicle to register their permit with Parking Services. Up to three visits per year are permitted without registration of a placard before a citation is issued for failure to register a permit.
Disability spaces are reserved for people who have disabilities and
properly display a state-issued disability placard. Individuals who
believe they meet the criteria of being physically disabled may apply
for a state handicapped placard through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Violators may be cited in accordance with Ohio law and/or towed.
Temporary disability parking permits for faculty and staff (not to
exceed three weeks) may be obtained from Parking Services provided documentation from a physician is presented.
