Ohio University's Department of Parking Services attempts to meet the
parking needs for individuals with mobility and disability needs.
There are handicapped spaces located in various lots across campus.
Please refer to the campus parking map for locations. If a current,
valid state-issued handicapped placard is displayed, parking is
available in any lot on campus (not just handicap spaces) with the
exception of the following areas: non parking spaces, posted
restricted spaces such as visitor, state vehicle, etc.; metered
spaces, the University Garages, Red Lots, and the Blue Lots. Please do
not attempt to create your own parking space.
Handicapped spaces are reserved for people who have disabilities and
properly display a state-issued handicapped placard. Individuals who
believe they meet the criteria of being physically disabled may apply
for a state handicapped placard through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Violators may be cited in accordance with Ohio law and/or towed.
Temporary handicapped parking permits for faculty and staff (not to
exceed three weeks) may be obtained from Parking Services provided documentation from a physician is presented.
Ohio University also offers CATCAB as a service to those with
mobility/disability needs.
*Please note that it is illegal to use a handicap permit that was not issued to you.
