Meal Periods -- Dining Services offers 34 meal periods. This gives students a total of 34 opportunities during the meal week to use their meal plan. Of the meal periods listed below, only one meal may be used during each meal period except for those on the Super 14 and Super 20 meal plans.

There is a total of 5 meal periods each day, Monday through Saturday, and 4 meal periods on Sunday.

Below is the list of meal periods. Each dining facility has its own operational hours and may not be open for the duration of each meal period. Please go to Locations and Operating Hours for meal times.

Only one meal may be used during any of these time periods if holding the regular 10, 14 and 20 meal plans. Flex-14, Super 14 and Super 20 meal plans may use more than one meal during any meal period.

The meal periods were increased to offer more options and flexibility in students’ class, work and social calendars.

Depending on the number of meal plan days available during the first and the last week of each quarter, meal plans may be pro-rated if the meal plan week is less than 7 days; a standard meal plan week is Sunday through Saturday. The number of meals that a student is given will be reduced according to the number days in that shortened meal plan week.

_____________________________________________________________

Super 20 Meal Plan -- The Super 20 is the most flexible of our meal plans. Students may eat all 20 meals each week or they may spend some of those meals on guests. Students have the option of converting any of their weekly meals to $6.00 worth of food or merchandise at any of our three markets. Students may exchange one meal for a combo meal at Nelson Style Pizza. Up to four students may elect to share a Super 20 plan if 3 out of 4 students have earned at least 90 credit hours. 2008-2009 cost is $1,740 a quarter.

Super 14 Meal Plan -- Our most popular plan offers the same benefits as a Super 20 meal plan except that it offers 14 meals per week. This plan may be shared by 2 students as long as at least one student has earned 90 or more credit hours. 2008-2009 cost is $1,544 a quarter.

20-meal plan -- Students may eat all 20 meals served each week. A worry-free plan that has proven popular with students and parents because you are assured the student can always have a nutritious meal. This is also the most economical plan, providing an opportunity for 60 more meals each quarter than the 14-meal plan for an additional cost of only $86 a quarter. 2008-2009 cost is $1,363 a quarter.
14-meal plan -- Students may eat any 14 of the 20 meals served each week. This is a good choice if you tend to spend your weekends off campus. 2008-2009 cost is $1,277 a quarter.

10-meal plan - THIS MEAL PLAN ENDS SPRING 2009 -- Students may eat any 10 of the 20 meals served each week. This plan is designed for light eaters and students who travel home every weekend. 2008-2009 cost is $1,102 a quarter.

Our experience indicates that almost all students will skip some meals. These missed meals are factored into our meal plan rates (except for the Super 20 and Super 14 Plans). Students receive no credit for missed meals on the 20, 14 or 10 meal plans and unused meals may not be carried over to subsequent weeks.

Block 20 meal plan -- Students with 90 or more credit hours or students exempted from their housing and dining contracts living off campus, faculty, and staff may purchase a block 20 meal plan. The block 20 meal plan is any 20 meals that may be used in any of our five dining halls, or Grab n Go's. The 20 meals are valid from the first day of the quarter and expire on the last day of the quarter. Students and staff members may bring as many guests as they have meals. The cost of the Block 20 is $145 (2008-09 price).

Block 10 Plus- We are pleased to offer the Block 10 plus meal plan to all students with 90 or more credit hours and faculty and staff. This meal plan offers 10 meals per quarter in any dining hall or grab n go plus $100 in Bobcat Cash all for $181 (2008-09 price). The 10 meals are valid from the first day of the quarter and expire on the last day of the quarter. Students and staff members may bring as many guests as they have meals. Any unused Bobcat Cash will carry over to the next quarter.

Why unused meals are not refundable -- Meal plan prices are determined with the assumption that students will not use up all of their meals. If students did use all of their meals or unused meals were refundable, the cost of a standard 20 or 14 meal plan would be the cost of a Super 20 or Super 14 meal plan which cost $377 and $267 more per quarter respectively.
How do I change my meal plan? -- Prior to the 1st day of classes in Fall Quarter students may increase or decrease their meal plan. After this date students may only increase their meal plan. All changes to your meal plan must be made in writing due to its contractual nature. You can stop by the Housing Office in Chubb Hall room 060, email housing@ohio.edu or fax your request to (740) 593-4089. Please remember to include your full name, PID number, current meal plan, and requested meal plan.

The meal plan week begins with Sunday brunch and ends at midnight on the following Saturday.
