An Opportunity for Everyone

The scope of the Presidents Climate Commitment is so great that every sector of the Ohio University community will play some part in the development and implementation of Ohio U's climate change plan. In order to achieve climate neutrality, climate commitment projects will need to evaluate efficiency and resource conservation on the level of the individual. Students, faculty, and staff will be called upon to make changes and take part in a number of initiatives that will help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate Commitment Leaders

Although the climate change commitment will have many participants from all areas of the university, there are a number of organizations that will be spearheading the effort to achieve climate neutrality by leading a specific project or developing specific goals and methods. The Office of Sustainability and the Facilities Management department have put together the following flow chart to show how PCC projects and communication might be organized and distributed among these leading participants.

This proposed flow chart shows a possible mechanism by which efforts that relate to the Presidents Climate Commitment will be arranged on Ohio U's campus. Each project listed on the left of the chart will be led by the PCC partner(s) to which it is connected, though many partners (listed and unlisted) will likely play a role in every project. These partners will then report to the Office of Sustainability, which will be responsible for maintaining communication about the PCC through regular reports and through this website. The Office of Sustainability will also report to advisors about the progress of the PCC, who will in turn report to the vice president of Finance and Administration.
